Developer & Designer

  • Dublin, Ireland

I am a Frontend Developer from Dublin with a love of design and unique, creative interfaces. My experience also includes back-end development and UX/UI design. I am hugely passionate about programming and design and strive to excel in both by challenging myself to explore and master new technologies and methods.

My journey in this career began in 2010 when I started a one year course in Advertising & graphic design. Here I realised that I wanted to pursue a career in digital design and development. I went on to complete a four year degree in Multimedia with a first-class honours in 2015. After completing my degree I joined an exciting e-commerce start-up called Love & Robots. I started as an intern and progressed to lead developer over two years with the company.

In 2017 I left Love & Robots and began working for the Science Gallery initially in-house in Dublin and later in Melbourne. In this time I worked on the redesign of the Science Gallery site (to be used by all the Science Gallerys internationally) by overhauling the information architecture of the site, and researching competitor sites and UX principles. I delivered low to high fidelity prototypes and worked on the main site. I have also completed four microsites for the gallery. These involve me being involved in the creative process by experimenting with different technologies to create unique and immersive experiences with the lead designer.

In 2017, I moved to Melbourne. In my time here I worked with award winning agencies Clemenger BBDO and mostly with AKQA. I spent 7 months working at AKQA with multiple clients including NAB, Nissan and Kmart. I spent the majority of my time there on the Bunnings team involved in projects such as the creation and maintenance of the Homebase UK site using the existing Bunnings site, introducing a commerce solution into the Bunnings site with React and re-developing the adaptive site into a responsive platform.

My short career has seen me give talks to 4th year degree level students and at events such as an Offset event in Dublin in 2016. My work has been featured by reputable blogs such as Awwwards, Siteinspire and Hoverstates. From October 2016 to April 2017, I thought a course in web design to third-level students in Dublin.
